Ruth Smeeth MP, Member of Parliament for Stoke-on-Trent North & Kidsgrove, is continuing local efforts to increase voter registration with a new letter writing campaign.
Changes to voter registration mean that thousands of people could be at risk of falling off the register on 1st December. Those not on the register could also be subject to an £80 fine as well as facing a negative impact on their credit rating which could also have a major impact on local residents.
Ruth Smeeth said: 'I want to make sure that no-one in my constituency gets stung by the new rules around electoral registration. That's why I've been writing out to residents we think may be at risk of falling off the register to ensure they know about the changes and to ecnourage them to register as soon as possible.'
'I'd urge local residents to ensure they don't lose their vote or their voice - make sure you are registered.'
