Labour has launched a campaign this Valentine’s Day calling on Stoke-on-Trent and Kidsgrove residents to show their support for our National Health Service.
‘Have a heart, don’t break our NHS’ is aiming to raise awareness of the impact the Tory-led government’s policies have had on the NHS. It comes after £1.2 billion of cancer and end of life care was privatised in North Staffordshire, the largest NHS sell-off to date.
Ruth Smeeth, Labour’s parliamentary candidate for Stoke-on-Trent North, said: ‘Our NHS is in critical condition under this Tory-led government. Four years of cuts and privatisation have had a terrible impact on our local health services and patients are feeling the impact.’
‘People I speak to locally love our NHS and want it to be here for our children and grandchildren, but its future has never been so uncertain. We’re calling on the government to end this dangerous privatisation experiment and put patients before private profit.’
